About Hampton Collection

Hampton Collection is a collection of eight self-catering apartments across three properties in Windermere, on Durban's Morningside border — 11 Leighorne Place, 12 Leighorne Place, and 145 12th Avenue. Two of the properties face each other across the same quiet cul-de-sac; the third is a 600m walk away. All three sit four minutes on foot from Florida Road and five minutes' drive from the beach.

Meet your hosts

We're Keshav and Nishthal Mahabir — born in Durban, we met at university in 2009 and have been inseparable ever since, bonding over a shared love of music, travel and adventure. Having travelled extensively ourselves, we know exactly how much a comfortable place to rest your head matters. That's the standard we hold every apartment to: the comfort of a hotel stay, layered with the style and attention to detail that only a personal touch can achieve. Three houses with real history

11 Leighorne Place was built in 1928 and carries a history protected by the KwaZulu-Natal AMAFA and Research Institute. We acquired it in 2023 and lovingly refurbished it — contemporary design meets modern living, while the original stained-glass windows and high ceilings keep the charm of a bygone era. It now holds three spacious apartments.

12 Leighorne Place, directly across the cul-de-sac, dates from the early 1900s and was restored the same way: modern comfort folded into the warmth and character of the original structure, divided into three thoughtfully appointed units.

145 12th Avenue, a short walk away, is the quiet one — a beautifully appointed home split into two private cottages, each with its own patio and braai, for guests who want a retreat rather than a scene.

What we believe a stay should be

The idea behind the collection is simple: a stay should be as effortless as a hotel and as personal as home. In practice that means every apartment is serviced daily (except Sundays and public holidays), check-in is self-service with a personal door code (no waiting for keys after a late flight), and when you message us on WhatsApp, a person answers — seven days a week.
